Packard Motor Company basically supplied two types of repair manuals. The Dealership Manuals were given to Packard Distributors and Dealerships. It was a lot more detailed than the condensed version of the Garage Edition. Updates and Supplements were provided to distributors and dealerships on a regular basis throughout the year. Garage editions were much more condensed as compared to the Dealership edition. Independent repair shops were given Service bulletins at the same time. Packard's indentation was as W.M. Packer stated; " We are anxious to maintain the greatest degree of Packard owner satisfaction and want to continue our assistance to the men who render service to Packard owners in order that the work may be done most efficiently, economically and profitably. See Letter June 16, 1939 To my knowledge the last ones sent out were in 1942. I have not seen any condensed garage edition past that date. This is most likely due to a change in the dealership agreement. Even today the only way an independent garage can get the Factory Repair Manuals and Factory Service Bulletins is to become a Service only point in an area that has no dealerships.
